Besides receiving an overpriced bill, be vigilant for frequent scams targeting tourists, such as:
- Unofficial websites that may charge a fee for the new Digital Arrival Card. The application is free and you should only use the official website.
- Overpriced Visa on Arrival (VOA)
- Fake gems, luxury goods and electronics
- Pickpocketing
Consider these essentials for Thailand:
- Sun protection
- Mosquito repellent
- Light and breathable clothing that covers shoulders and knees for temple visits (otherwise you will not be allowed to enter)
- Power Adapter: Type A, B, C, and O plugs (220V).
Tipping is not a custom in Thailand.
